2009 Fare Increase
Tulsa Transit fare increase is effective March 9, 2009. Please click here for details on the new fares going into effect. The increase will raise the regular fixed route base cash fare from $1.25 to $1.50.
Why a fare increase?
The last Tulsa Transit fixed route fare increase was implemented back in August 2003 when the regular cash fare increased from $1.00 to $1.25. Since that time operating costs have increased dramatically, including diesel fuel which has increased by over 150%. It is management’s opinion that a customer fare increase is necessary at this time to help avoid future cuts in fixed route service.
The good news!
In conjunction with the fare increase Tulsa Transit will change the 2-hour restricted pass (one-way transfer) to a 2-hour U2 Pass, an unrestricted pass. This means that riders will be able to travel on any route they choose for the 2-hour duration, even for return trips. The current 2-hour restricted pass does not allow riders to take routes that are considered a return trip. The U2 Pass will be valid for 3 hours on Saturdays.
This change will make our fare structure easier for new customers to understand. It will also make administration of the program simpler and will reduce customer complaints associated with transfers.
Tulsa Transit will also introduce a 7-day unrestricted pass for $12. This will be a popular fare option for riders who want to save money on their transit travel, but do not want to purchase a 31-day pass. Also, the price of the 31-day pass will not increase; it will remain $40.
